TS Bellona Navy Cadet Unit

North Shore and West Auckland

Anzac Day Commemorations April, 25, 2023

We were finally able to parade at the Browns Bay Anzac Commemorations. Cadets from T.S. Bellona formed the cenotaph guard at the Dawn Parade.

Regatta 2023

The annual regatta is one of the highlights of the cadet year. Cadets from the Northern Area (Northland, Auckland and Waikato) competed at the Tamaki Leadership Centre, Naval base. The winner competes against the central and southern champions. BZ to TS Achilles for winning the Northern Area this year.

Cadets compete at drill, sailing, rowing (pulling), navigation and a variety of other skills throughout the weekend.

Coxswain Training, Christchurch 2023

Coxswain training is a week-long training for senior cadets. This course provides theory and practical instruction in Sailing Skills, Coxswain & Crew Responsibilities, and Emergency Procedures. This year, two cadets from T.S. Bellona attended the course, while one cadet who had taken the course 2 years ago was a cadet staff. Unit Commander Lyons also staffed the course, while SLT Frank Lundberg attended the officer's version of the course!

Training courses are a great way for cadets to meet cadets from all over the country.

Anzac Day Commemorations 2022

Because of Covid-19 measures, we were unable to parade at the Browns Bay Anzac Commemorations. Instead, we held a small, informal service at our parade grounds at the HQ Buildings, Hobsonville Point.

Ship Experience - HMNZS Aotearoa

In 2021 HMNZS Aotearoa visited her home port of New Plymouth.
Two of the female cadets in TS Bellona were able to join the voyage home from New Plymouth to Auckland.
